New Earswick Primary School has an active School Council. Over the years, our representatives have played an important role in bringing pupil voice to the forefront of school life and bringing about changes for our school. They meet each half term to discuss important issues and help the Headteacher and Governors make New Earswick a better place to learn.
How Representatives are Chosen
The school council are appointed democratically with children learning about fairness and the voting system. Each class explores what makes a good school council member and from there, children are able to share a brief manifesto with their peers to gain support. Each class in school votes using a ballot box with the majority vote leading to a new male and female representative for the year ahead.
