Welcome to Class LL's homework information page
We want to work in partnership with our parents. We know how rewarding this can be for our children. (School Prospectus)
Reading - Try to read 10 minutes every day.
It is even better if you answer questions about what you have read (examples of questions you could ask are available from Miss Lawrie)
Learn the 2, 5 and 10 times tables - Practise twice a week.
Spellings - Please continue to learn spellings regularly. Spelling Tests are on a Thursday.
Homework Sheet- This is usually linked to what we have been learning in class that week. This will be handed out on a Friday and must be in by the following Friday.
Please ask Miss Lawrie if you have any questions about homework.
Class LL are always delighted to accept any help from parents who are willing to support their learning journey. Even if it is just for half an hour per week, it can make such a difference! Please let Miss Lawrie know if you are interested.
Our Class Pet
Cookie Crumble the Syrian Hamster
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to ‘Cookie Crumble’ our class Hamster. He is a cheerful soul who enjoys hamster chocolate treats, running in his wheel and acting like an Olympic gymnast in his cage. As you can imagine, he is adored by the children who are all keen to take their turn looking after him.
We need volunteers to take Cookie Crumble home at weekends and holidays. If you and your child are willing to do this then please speak to Miss Lawrie.
Finally, Cookie Crumble was bought for us by the school council but it is up to us to provide for him. When you take him home please buy some food, bedding or a treat and add it to his box. If you can't take him home but would still like to contribute this would be greatly appreciated.
End of Y2 Tests
At the end of Y2 pupils are required to take part in SATs tests. The tests take place in May/June and inform assessments made throughout the year by the class teacher. Your child will be asked to complete tests in Maths, Reading, Writing and Spelling. Science and Speaking and Listening are based on teacher assessment alone.
A meeting for parents to explain the Y2 tests usually takes place in the Spring Term.
If you have any questions about the tests and are keen to find out more please ask Miss Lawrie for details!
We have been writing our own Easter Songs based on our favourite Easter song 'The Rabbit's Rock and Roll'.
